Hello 5th Grade Trumpet and Trombone Students,
This is a message from Pete Santucci, your music teacher for 5th grade brass class. You are going to now have the option to use a free version of the SmartMusic website for the class Trumpets and Trombones. This website will show you songs from our book, play your background music, and can even be used to record as you play the songs and assess your playing to let you know which notes you have missed! This is an optional activity to make your practicing more fun and more productive. If you don’t want to participate with SmartMusic you can continue to practice your instrument using just your regular paper book. SmartMusic usually costs money to subscribe, but the website is offering free accounts during school closure.
In order to use the software, you need to use the Chrome web browser.
Here is how you create a SmartMusic account and join the class:
1. Open a Chrome browser and visit: https://admin.smartmusic.com/join
2. Enter your student email address. ( for example... psantucci26@stu.rossvalleyschools.org )
Parents may also enter their own email as a back-up during the sign-up process if they choose to do so.
3. Enter this Class Code: EWAWF-JRJZC
After you enter the class code on the SmartMusic website, you may have to go back to your email again to confirm your email address.I will automatically be notified by email that you are trying to enter the class, and I will give you my "teacher approval" for your request to join! (This approval may take me a few hours... or maybe a day?) After that, you will be ready to start using this great interactive practice tool!
When you get to the SmartMusic website you can click on the Help Center button ( ? ) near the top right of the screen to find directions about how to play the songs, record and assess yourself.
Here are the full instructions for how to sign-in and join a class:
https://smartmusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026372293-Creating-an-account-and-joining-a-class
Again, please note that SmartMusic is allowing students to register for free during the time of these school closures.
Thank you, and I look forward to helping you improve your practice with SmartMusic!
