This week you will fill in your practice log on the row labeled "Week 5." Find the square on Week 5 that has the date you are practicing on, then write the number of minutes that you practice in that square. Be sure to have your practice log signed by your parent/guardian after practicing for at least 30 minutes this week.
HOMEWORK PRACTICE -
First review this...
1. Always start with buzzing on your mouthpiece and long tones.
If you are having trouble, try thinking of saying "AHHHHH" on the lower notes and "EEEEE" on the higher notes. Also remember that your lips will have to be slightly looser on the low notes and will have to be slightly tighter or stronger on the higher notes.
2. ASSIGNMENT FOR WEEK 5
Continue to play the notes in your book (Essential Elements for Band) on page 4 and page 5. (Exercise #9 in the book may be the easiest for you. It is ok if you do not play them in order.) Don't worry if you can't figure out how to play all of them, just keep trying. Using the recordings and the video found on the website will be very helpful. Try to get all the way to exercise number 10!!!
If you can play all of the exercises on page 4 and 5, (good for you!!!) you may then move ahead to page 6.
USE A PRACTICE VIDEO THAT I HAVE MADE FOR YOU!!!
I have recorded a video to help you practice this week! Watch the video and pause after each of my examples so that you can try playing the notes with the correct pitch and rhythm.
Be sure to watch the correct video for your instrument:

Also trumpet players can watch this video about how to oil your valves:

Trombone Players... This is the best thing for your slide...
You may want to order a bottle: Yamaha Trombone Slide Lubricant.
And it is also good to get a small misting spray bottle to spray a mist of water on your slide. (you don’t have to get one made for trombone! You can just buy a small spray bottle from CVS, Walgreens, or the container store, and put regular water in it.)
